Bio
Alex Yoder (b. 1985) is a composer currently living in Muncie, IN. He holds a degree from Ball State University and is planning on pursuing graduate studies in composition in the near future. At 19 years of age, Alex's wrote his first major composition for wind band which was then premiered by the Ball State University Wind Ensemble under Joseph Scagnoli. The following year, it was used as the finale of the VanderCook School of Music Symphonic Band's performance at the 2005 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic under the direction of Charles Menghini. He has studied composition privately with composer Les Taylor, as well as tuba performance with Dr. Mark Mordue. During his time at Ball State University he was the principal tubist for the Ball State Wind Ensemble under Dr. Tom Caneva.
Alex's musical interests are quite diverse. He has shown interest in (and composed for) everything from orchestra/band and chamber ensembles to modern rock and electronica. He is also very active in the competitive marching band world as a composer and show designer. His works are published by Les Taylor Publications and Marching Show Concepts, as well as having several self-published pieces.
As a web developer, Alex is the creator and owner of several music related and other websites. Most notably, he created uTutti.com, a web based music teacher's office application which was launched in April of 2009.
